Mammoth 2011
This is our second stay at Wood’s Lodge overlooking Lake George. The huge winter snowfall delayed summer by about a month this year, so even though we were here 5 weeks later than last time, there was still tons of snow, green meadows, wildflowers, and overflowing streams.
We experienced a new hike along Rock Creek, with one spectacular alpine lake after another, and we returned to some of our favorite places from last time. We were joined by Chris, Julianne, Werner and Chester, who were visiting for the first time. Marla stayed behind this time and enjoyed the peace and quiet of an empty house.
In addition to beautiful mountain hikes, we spent a day in the Owens Valley, visiting Mono Lake and Bodie. Both unique and strange in their own way.
