The Lotz's, Ochs' and Goodfellows gathered together for four nights in October, in the northernmost coastal town of California. Crescent City itself is not really that spectacular, but if you happen to live (or vacation) on beachfront property, or if you drive a scant 20 minutes east out of town, you are rewarded with some of the most exquisite scenery in all of California. The beaches are rugged, rocky wonders and can offer up incredible sunsets. To the east are the redwood forests, where blue skies are nearly hidden by 300 foot tall giants and where sound is dampened at ground level, as if you are in an acoustically treated music studio. We stayed at a cozy Airbnb cottage atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, which stretched westward to infinity.
