This song for the new year is a cover of a Big Star original off their 1978 album "Third". Big Star, a band I had never heard of until recently, has been described in Rolling Stone Magazine as the "quintessential American power pop band", and "one of the most mythic and influential cult acts in all of rock & roll".

Their great music never achieved commercial success due to ineffective marketing and limited  distribution -- a fate from which my music has likewise suffered (tee-hee). A notable cover of one of their songs was "September Gurls" by the Bangles in 1986. Big Star's fascinating and sometimes tragic story can be found HERE.
